I went from holding thriving fitness classes to being shut down in a matter of twenty-four hours, all because of the situation with Covid-19. Now I’m certainly not the only small business person out there who is going through this. We’re all in this together and you’re most likely sitting on the couch right now as I’m writing this post, scratching your head, wondering what the heck to do now while you’re drinking copious amounts of wine in order to numb your anxiety (I’m guilty as charged!).
In the midst of this pandemic, it’s so easy to get overwhelmed. So many new ideas for creating new opportunities, new ways to earn an income, are popping up that at times, it’s hard to keep up. However, rather than see this crisis as an end, I see it as a new beginning: the beginning of my journey as an online fitness instructor. The benefits to doing this are as follows: fitness classes in Eaglesham don’t have to end on April 9th and I can live practically anywhere in the world and offer Zumba, HIIT or whatever other fitness class I plan to offer in the near future. The only thing: now is not the time to travel!
I also want to take this time to reach out like I never have before and forge connections with other fit pros, other people in general, because I’ve always firmly believed that, when we come together and work together, great things happen and new opportunities arise. It’s a win, win situation for everyone!
But still, in the meanwhile, the question remains: Where do we go from here? How can we regain some normalcy during this pandemic and get back to earning an income as quickly as possible (because nobody knows when things will go back to normal)? For me, as it is for a great many business owners, the internet is our only option of earning any kind of income. However, I do believe that having more than one skill set is important, especially at this time.
For me, it’s writing and landscaping. As much as I love writing, a strong part of mewants to reconnect with nature by taking up garden work as well as fulfill that need for an alternative income to my fitness classes. But spring is nowhere in sight here in Northern Alberta, so it looks like I have to wait that one out as well. Of course, right now no travel, even here in Canada is advised. In any case, I don’t want to expose myself to anyone or anything that may carry the Coronavirus.
So, what am I going to do in the meanwhile?
I’m going to do the following:
– Keep on offering my HIIT and Zumba classes online
– Keep on reaching out and connecting with other fit pros, family, friends and other business owners
– Jot down all my money making ideas in my journal
– Keep watch on the situation with Covid-19
