Fitness Routine: Stepping it Up

I’ve kept my summer fitness routine quite light, but now I am stepping it up in my efforts and turning up the heat in intensity.

Here’s what it looked like over these past two days.

Sunday morning Let’s Get Started

– 20 minutes cycling (on a bike at the Rec Centre in Eaglesham, Alberta)

– Deadlifts: 10 reps, 4 rounds, lifting 20 lb in each hand for a total of 40 lb

3 Rounds of the following using 12 lb weights

– Bicep Curls

– Standing overhead press

3 Rounds of the following using 15 lb weights

– Chest Press

– Skull Crushers

For the Core Component…

 – 20 weighted V-ups, each side, using a 15 lb weight

– 20 Ab Crunches

Monday Morning Madness

I didn’t feel like pumping iron today, so I did what I will call my version of an ironman workout: a running and push-up challenge on a large field behind the school in Eaglesham.

I alternated between two laps of running (which included the occasional bout of speed walking) and one legged push ups.

Here’s a breakdown of the workout:

Two laps around the field

16 one legged push ups

Two laps around the field

14 one legged push ups

Two laps around the field

12 one legged push ups

Two laps around the field

10 one legged push ups

One lap around the field, alternating running and walking

Stretching it out
